• The agreement will enable the Medical Oncology area and the Oncology Day Hospital to be set up at the Viamed Santa Elena Hospital, for the care of oncology patients and the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and hormone therapy treatments specific to this speciality
• The Medical Oncology area of the centre, led by Dr. González Larriba, a prestigious oncologist with more than 30 years of experience in the field of public and private healthcare, will contribute to support all the medical specialities of the centre
• Atrys‘ agreement with Hospital Viamed Santa Elena adds to the network of alliances with reference health centres and Atrys’ own centres in Spain, with the objective of guaranteeing access to innovative and precision medicine 
• For its part, Viamed Santa Elena will once again offer a comprehensive oncology service that will be present at all stages of the oncology patient’s care process and will also have different specialised units 

Atrys Health, a global healthtech company that provides services of prevention, diagnosis and precision medical treatment, pioneer in telemedicine and oncology treatment and the Hospital Viamed Santa Elena, belonging to one of the reference hospital groups in Spain, have reached a collaboration agreement to launch the area of Medical Oncology and the Oncology Day Hospital. A space that will have individualised treatment rooms equipped with the most cutting-edge technological equipment for the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and hormone therapy treatments typical of this speciality. 

The collaboration between Atrys and Hospital Viamed Santa Elena is part of the mutual commitment to fight cancer and offer innovative and personalized health solutions for each cancer patient. The new Medical Oncology service, which will support all surgical and non-surgical specialties of the centre, will be led by Dr. José Luis González Larriba, a prestigious oncologist with more than 30 years of professional experience and great knowledge of the public and private health sector in Madrid. Dr. González Larriba will be responsible for the centre’s new Medical Oncology service, which offers everything from outpatient care to treatment and ongoing care.

González Larriba holds a PhD in Medicine and Surgery by Complutense University of Madrid, and is a specialist in Medical Oncology. He has been awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize of the Complutense University of Madrid and is Professor of Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the same University. In addition, he holds the European Diploma in Medical Oncology and has been visiting professor at the University of Palermo. His main fields of study, research and assistance include pathologies such as lung, kidney, bladder, prostate and melanoma cancer. He is a member of the executive committees of the Spanish Research Groups on Lung Cancer and Urological Tumours, having been president and founder of the Spanish Group of Renal Cancer and Melanoma and member of the Committee of Experts in Urological Tumours of the Health Council of the Autonomous Community of Madrid. In parallel, he is a member of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology, the Spanish Association for Cancer Research, the European Society of Medical Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, among others. 

Throughout his career, González Larriba has participated as principal investigator in more than 300 national and international clinical research projects and has collaborated in the publication of more than 60 scientific books and 300 articles in national and international journals. He is currently head of the Medical Oncology Section at the Hospital Universitario San Carlos in Madrid and is recognised as Level IV of the Professional Career (Maximum) by the Regional Ministry of Health of the Community of Madrid. 

The new agreement with the Viamed Santa Elena Hospital joins the more than 40 public and private hospitals in which Atrys offers oncology services, as well as the company’s own oncology centres in Spain, such as the Institute of Advanced Oncology (IOA) and the IMOR Institute, in Portugal and Mexico. In the case of Viamed Santa Elena, and thanks to this alliance with Atrys will be able to offer again a comprehensive oncology service in the Hospital Complex, which according to Joaquín Martínez, manager of the Hospital Viamed Santa Elena, ‘reinforces our goal of offering the best possible medical care, with different specialized units and present at all stages of the care process, so that we can guarantee a comprehensive care to our cancer patients’.
